Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Its initial sweetness is, apparently, "of roasted and vinous notes with a subtle bitter aftertaste". Strong fruitiness, often with "banana notes" standing out, is derived from Old Peculier’s fermentation process.

Dark pour, but not black. Nice tan head to start, but it quickly diminished. Not much flavor to this if cold, but as it warms, more and more flavor comes out. Didn’t notice a bitter taste at all - maybe I’m immune. Slight taste of banana and molasses, smell of toffee, but oddly didn’t notice it. Great Ale.

Bottle at home. Dark brown colour. Nice head. Roasty caramel aroma. Toffee and chocolate flavour. Nice and dark, buttery and smooth. But also fruity, including bananas, and prickly. With a bitter aftertaste. Enjoyable.

500ml bottle, BB 30 APR 08...in date for a change! Deep brown body, dense tan collar. Earthy aroma, some mollasses and wood, bread and dark fruit, oddly enticing. Quite richly bodied, carbonation is low, has a syrup texture that is somehow suiting. Big malt presence, some roasted, some nuts, some toffee, brown sugar, all balanced with rum-like oak nuances and banana bread, with still more tropical fruits seemlingly lingering as it warms. Deeply complex, intriguing and satisfying. A very nice treat!

Bottle. Dark ruby color with a thick, frothy, mostly diminishing off-white head. Caramel, dark bread, and yeasty aroma. Bready, slightly fruity flavor, a touch of toffee, and a nutty bitter finish. Medium to full body with a bit of a juiciness to it.

Bottle: Dark brown semi red pour. No head to speak of. Very little carbonization. Sweet caramel aroma. Semi sweet taste with a light bitter finish. Overall a very good brew.

[WBA Styles Tasting] Dark amber/brown color. Estery, fruit aroma almost like juicy fruit gum. Some slight banana, raisin and prune. Low bitterness. Almost wine-like, with some slight oxidation present. Drying finish. Very good.
