Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Its initial sweetness is, apparently, "of roasted and vinous notes with a subtle bitter aftertaste". Strong fruitiness, often with "banana notes" standing out, is derived from Old Peculier’s fermentation process.

This "yorkshire" ale is a delicious smooth alternative to a scotch ale. It pours very dark brown, almost an oil color. It has a chocolate malty aroma. The delicious malty flavor is very smooth.

50 cl bottle at home. Abv is 5,6%. Hanne bougth this bottle in England - thx. Deep reddish brown color, nice beige head. Aroma is malt, sugar sweetness and dried fruit. Flavor is on the sweet side, maybe a bit too sweet, malty, dried fruit, ok bitterness. A bit thin body.

Strong roast malt aroma. Mahogany with little head. Flavour is sweetish malt balanced by hoppy bitterness, some dried fruit, caramel and banana tang. Medium-bodied. Finishes sweetish caramel with a slight bitter note. Long burnt caramel aftertaste. Very tasty.

Pours a dark brown but seems to have very little head from the bottles I drank. Taste is an excellent blend of barley and malts, some sweetness. A very good ale to drink down all day and all night.

[bottle] Dried fruit aroma that includes prune, with brown sugar and a touch of liquorice. Opaque, clear garnet-brown-black. Sweet caramel flavour with some nutty notes and a touch of sourness. Bitterness is medium and balanced by some spiciness. Liquorice, apple, and pear notes. Medium body, nutty-bitter finish.

[Bottle from Asda, High Wycombe] Pours an opaque ruby-brown with a thin beige head. Smells rich, malty and inviting - you can imagine following this around like the Bisto kid follows gravy! Smooth and creamy mouthfeel, with just enough of a prickle to prevent it becoming cloying. An oaky flavour at first, then cocoa, with vinous hints behind and some roasty malts to finish. A very good, mellow, relaxing beer which (like Jennings Snecklifter and many of Adnams’ beers) challenges CAMRA’s perception that bottled beer needs bottle-conditioning to be good. c9
