Nov 21, 2007 Poured Dark, with a descent off colored head. To me it has a slight tequila smell and taste (Not a bad thing). Would drink this one on occasions. Overall good dark beer.

Nov 19, 2007 Updated: Jan 8, 2008I had been saving this for a rainy day and decided to break it out while watching the Titans game. Poured a nice dark brown to almost black color with a nice foamy head. The taste is a little like a Sam Adams Black Lager only a bit richer. I was expecting a smokier taste but I can’t say I’m disappointed with it. This is a nice beer showing a nice chocolate and coffee aftertaste. I hope that I will have the opportunity to have this again. I read in an earlier post that it wasn’t going to be imported here anymore. Nice beer.

Nov 17, 2007 Bottle poured into pint glass. Pours almost black colour with ruby highlights. Thin tan film on top with good carbonation. Aroma was sweet malt. Strong malt flavour with a little more sweetness. Short finish. First old ale and it was nice.

Nov 16, 2007 Bottled sample via presario. Dark amber in colour with moderate carbonation. Aromas of red berry fruit, toffee, and pale malts. More berry fruit in the mouth, with rich pale malts and loads of grassy hops... almost a little too grassy. Medium bodied. Not bad... just a bit too grassy and perhaps a bit too simplistic for me.

Nov 14, 2007 I’ve passed up this beer at BevMo plenty of times. After hearing that it won’t be distributed anymore over hear I figured I’d better scoop it up while I can. Price is a bit on the high side, but lets see what it has to offer. Aroma is a nice combo of soft caramel, light smoke, wood and dark fruit. It would have received higher scores for me if it were a bit stronger, but still very nice. Appearance is a purpleish/red color, clear with a sticky head with nice lacing. Flavor is figs, alcohol, molasses, and toffee without being overly sweet in any way. A very nice beer.
