Medium bodied with low to medium carbonation. Not a bitter beer but neither is it overly sweet. Roasted, Fruity, vinous, with traces of banana. licorice and just a touch of alcohol showing through. Long, slightly sweet, finish. A very pleasant beer. Alldaydrinker (558), Norwood, Massachusetts, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 18, 2007 Pours dark like a brownish red with a caramel head. I like the look of it. Nutty aroma. Full body. Very flavorful. Last time I had it was about six months ago so my comments are based on memory. It is hard to find in New Hampshire but I think it is available here. I have better luck when I’m brew shopping in Massachusetts. bubbleflubber (900), Collinsville, Virginia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 16, 2007 Pours directly between cola and ruby into the glass... and initially tan brown froth diminishes quickly to a ring lace. Dark toffee, sour grains, sileage and roasted bananas greet the nose. Nice sweet, yet pale malt integrates well with bananas and dark fruit on the palate. Toward the finish, I get roasts and bitters coming through, rounding out at the end with a lingering smoky bitter back. Mouthfeel is medium-light, with an almost liquor "twinge" to it. Well-integrated and makes for a decent late-nighter. HogcliffeLenny (162), Christchurch, Dorset, England
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 4, 2007 A sweet fruity aroma greets you as you open the bottle. Pours a deep reddish brown body and tan head. Not overly malty, with a fruity taste and a bitterness that intensifies towards the end. Smooth on the palate. However, I have to say that this ale is not particularly memorable, whereas the Black Sheep of the family has gone off and created a highly memorable brew, Riggwelter. MelbBrewersJD (32), Australia
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 1, 2007 Old Ale: Note - this must be drunk at the right temp. Straight out of the fridge I thought it was ordinary but as it warmed up I could taste a lot more in the beer. True to style and quite enyoyable to have one occasionally but not my favourite.
