Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Its initial sweetness is, apparently, "of roasted and vinous notes with a subtle bitter aftertaste". Strong fruitiness, often with "banana notes" standing out, is derived from Old Peculier’s fermentation process.

Dark brown with fast dissipating tan head. Fruity aroma, plummy and vinuous and malty taste with a lingering dry finish.

Bottle. Dark brown with a tan head that fell back rapidly aroma bizarrely like coca-cola rich malty taste with raisin fruit and a dry coffee finish. A strange combination that comes together surprisingly well.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown almost purplish ruby with a thick tan head that would lace the glass. Malty, richly sweet aroma with a tough of spice that can’t quite be pinned down. Hidden within I note a roast coffee with a touch of char or smoke buried in a sweet rich body with some definite dark fruit notes. Mouthfilling, almost foamy with a faint lingering bitterness. Not bad, but the combination of flavors on this one seemed a little muddled.

The appearence is a dark ruby brown, with a 3/4 to 1 in dark brown head. The taste mirrors the smell with a hint of molasses, maybe raisens or someting, and nutmeg. A great starter for those trying to get into the second level of better beer. This beer started my journey past APA’s, and dry stouts.

THOUGHTS: The aroma was nice but weak. Some cola flavor wn hop bitterness. Pretty good. Definitely different, but not great. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a dark brown with red highlights and a small to average, off-white head that mostly diminished. The aroma was mostly cola and dark fruit (either plum or prune). The initial flavor was lightly sweet and also sour, while the finish was lightly sweet and light to moderately bitter with a short duration. The body was medium and mostly dry but a little oily with fizzy carbonation.

From the 12 oz bottle, poured a deep, opaque river-bottom muddiness and a frothy whipped head. With a deep sugary nose, the full-bodied flavors don’t exactly sneak up on your palate. Sweet and sugary with a toffee-fullness. Pleasantly bittered, but with a sweet almost black grape essence at the very end. Makes me crave some smoked almonds. (#2667, 1/28/07)

Bottle. Pours a lavishly clear and dark reddish brown/brick hue. A creamy light tan head sits atop and clings to the glass as it descends. Aroma is subtly fruity and sweet with a sour alcohol note. Slight metallic aroma (import) like a grip of old coins. Muddy toffee notes open to the nose as the ale warms. An old earthy dustiness rounds out this beer. The flavor is bighty on the palate. Hints of vanilla and caramel dominate the middle. Finishes somewhat bitter, and mildly alcoholic, with lingering pleasant sour pear and grape nuts. Light/medium moutfeel. "Uncle B’s, A little rusty and dusty."

Bottle: Brown, reddish colored pour with an off white head. Aroma, yeast, grassy hops, some sweet malts. Flavor, grassy and earthy hops, with some caramel in there as well. Eh...
