I maybe had a little too high hopes here. Cask @ The Central - St Andrews. Aroma is dominated by fruity malt. Taste is of a similar dimention however as drinking grassy hops come through in the background and some liqurice too.

Cask-conditioned @ The Milburys. Aromas of liqourice, malt and some mustiness. Fleeting glimpses of almost sweaty cheese like old pecorino. Liqourice taste which fades as you drink, slightly sweet with some acidity. very watery body with little aftertaste. Promises lots but fails to deliver.

Veyr nasty, I prefeer the one on bottle. The aroma is perhaps, what makes it nasty. VEry dark, but the aroma is like harbal, but not exactly hoppy.

Cask, Peterborough Fest 05. Dark brown with beige bubbles. Aromas are sweet malty and very vineous with winter berries. Flavours are sweeter and maltier than the bottled version and the alcohol is more noticeable. Seems more fruity, too. Very rich with chocolate and licourice. Lacks the sparkle of the bottled version but gains in terms of flavour.

[cask at bon accord] Pours black with a moderate, lasting tan head. Aroma is immediatly very fruity with strawberrys, plums, raisins and apple there is also a little chocolate. Very full body with a note of liquorice and a good vinous notes coming through on the palate, giving way to a dry, vinous finish.

Excellent Cask ale....much better than OP bottled, though the bottled is still a nice beer. This, however, is a fabulous old ale. Initial roasted sweetness with an oh so subtle bitter aftertaste. Strong fruitiness in flavor well matched with the old ale aroma. Always a good choice.
