ditmier (228), Boise, Idaho, USA Jun 21, 2008 2008 Bottle - Old ale in every sense, aroma is pale, flavour is much brighter, old fruit, yeast, some tobacco, this is a pretty thin ale, but slightly enjoyable, this has potential and there were characteristics I liked, maybe I was having an off day but it was just okay this time...
weaselkenievil (390), Cheshire, England Oct 11, 2008 Bottle from my local evil supermarket. I hate that place. A pleasant surprise, the only beer I’d left to try on the shelf and it was pretty pleasant. Dark brown, looks like a coke with a decent creamy head with good lace. Caramel, toffeeish kind of flavour with a little roasted malt. Nice finish. Not bad really. djtimeless (48), Florida, USA Oct 11, 2008 Pours out a dark coffee color with no head. Taste is fruity and roasty. Sweet with a little bitter. Nice English Ale. greenhorn1 (385), Eugene, Oregon, USA Oct 10, 2008 12 oz bottle. Well, this definitely is a peculier beer. Pours dark brown, you can almost see through it if you try hard enough. No head on this glass of colored darkness. Aroma and flavor had barely detectable notes of malts, fruits..and yes, I can taste the banana as the commericial description claims. A bit light in the body, and where’s the bubbly? But it had a longer finish that was rather enjoyable. Overall...nothing too exciting. Indulgence (124), Ajo, Arizona, USA Oct 1, 2008 Hits the spot! Aromas of chocolate covered cherries, some yeast esters and sweetened malts, an initial head that settles down, the flavor never wavers through the whole experience and is decently complex as described with some vinous notes of dark fruits and some bitterness on the finish, the palate is medium, being just the side of thin instead of full, but a long finish lets me enjoy this one with my kit kats. kopher (124), USA Sep 28, 2008 Pours a watery brown, no head. Very caramelly and malty aroma, biscuity, maybe a little fruity. Taste is similar, nice sweetness with a slightly bittersweet, lasting finish. Clean and crisp for such a sweet beer, and fairly light-bodied.
