Gregis (848), Overland Park, Kansas, USA May 3, 2008 Pours a pale gold with moderate sediment and a frothy white head that leaves behind patchy lace. The nose is certainly unlike any other APA that I’ve sampled: grainy and slightly "stale" straw and a very faint instant coffee note (odd). Medium-bodied and slick with a dry and solidly bitter finish. The flavor is a big hit of grassy, herbal hops with a light backing of pale malt and a lemongrass note coming forward at the end. I have difficulty understanding why a brewery that makes so many great beers, including one of the most highly regarded IPAs in the craft beer community, keeps this brew in its year-round stable (especially since they already have another pale in that stable).
mhelgason (404), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Jul 15, 2008 bottle. below average white fizzy head into a hazy orange body with particles a floatin. head did not last long. aromas of light to moderate hops and some light malts. flavor is initially moderately bittersweet but finishes bitter. Okay summer brew...actually just what I was looking for this evening. morrdt (546), Jacksonville, Florida, USA Jul 14, 2008 12 oz. single bottle from Total Wine in Huntersville, NC. Somehow the clowns at Total Wine charged me $2.99 for a single bottle of this beer. What were they thinking? I’m sure that this beer isn’t worth $3 a bottle, but me being the dumbass that I am, was going to get it because it was the only one in the store. Okay beer, but nothing special. zappafan99 (214), Rock Hill, South Carolina, USA Jul 8, 2008 Looks: Gold fog with thin white head. Aroma: Mild hops, with sweetness. Taste: Strong hops and spice on a light to medium body. Lawnmower IPA. tedovertu (82), Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA Jul 5, 2008 Bottle, small white head with sparce lacing. Hazy body with small particulates. Light yellow/amber color. Heavy hoppiness with spurce undertones. Mediumed bodied with an average duration. Not my favorite Bell’s beer. abcfan (132), USA Jul 1, 2008 Thanks to pepsican for the pour. Pours a hazy yellow with a white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of pine and citrus. Feels light and bubbly on the tongue, with a bitter finish. Would make a decent summer brew, but not my favorite style.
