| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | May 17, 2009 12 oz. bottle from Grape & Gourmet (Batch 8211, bottled November 18, 2007). Dark orange pour with a thick and creamy off-white head. Aroma of citrus, cherry, soy sauce (there’s a surprise but it’s hard to miss), and some sweetness. Flavors of plum, raisin, orange, brown sugar, and chocolate. Very smooth, but very complex. Alcohol is not noticeable at first but more detectable as this one warms up. An excellent barley wine that exceeded my expectations. blutt59 (2167), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 8, 2009 Bottle after the 6000 not a good idea. It was a let down. But still pretty tasty. Pours out a brown topped with a small head. Aroma of sweet brown sugar and some hops. Tast was of more brown sugar and a nice bitter end. lordeche (397), Quincy, Massachusetts, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | May 5, 2009 Pours deep mahogany with thick tan head. Aroma is bursting with dark fruit- cherries, plum, figs, and some vinous notes, along with cola, biscuit, brown sugar, and oak. Very slight citrus notes come through after some warming. Flavor begins with sweet cherry and grape and finishes with bready malts, cola, chocolate, caramel, and some malty bitterness. Really well balanced. Palate is full and rich without being sticky. Great example of a traditional ale. SuperDave70 (1158), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 4, 2009 Deep reddish-brown pour with a bit of haziness and a foamy head. Malt, ripe fruit, and a touch of hop aroma. Flavor is about the same. Good, but I wish there was more hoppiness. arrogantb (712), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 4, 2009 Batch 8211 which was packaged on 11/9/07 so this is about four months old. The color is a dark red and the smell is strong fruits like grapes and then fumes from the alcohol. The flavor is definitely more malty than hoppy and the alcohol is slightly present to the tongue. Overall, decent barleywine.
