Slightly fruity, malty, other flavors I don’t know how to explain them. Well-balanced. Alcohol is not noticeable. Aftertaste is sweetness, with the many tasty flavors that the beer provides. I hope I will be able to cellar at least one of the six for a year. garthicus (1289), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Pours a beautiful brown orange with good visible carbonation and a large off white/yellow head. Aroma: Caramel malt with quite a sweet hop element, some alcohol, wood, pine, whiskey and mild peat. Lovely. Flavour: Bitter, huge alcohol hit but not in a negative way, malt, hops, bitterness shines through right to the end, whiskey finish. Lovely. I can just imagine drinking this on a nice cold winters evening. shawnm213 (938), South Bend, Indiana, USA

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 28, 2009 A Belles product designed for putting down. Similar to many of the British-style barley wines, this beer has a rich warming malt character. The hop flavor blended very well. I would have like a little more hop aroma. I liked the carbonation on the light side. Another beer for saving. EHopper (337), Minnesota, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 28, 2009 Carmel color including head which also has darker carmel swills. Sweet and smooth carmel and malt with a surprising twist of butternut squash. Some nice bitter which lingers a fairly long time. Worth another try sometime. Blaze312 (132), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA

Seems to be full of flavor, bitter aftertaste. The alcohol def stands out in this one. Scent came off like prunes and grapes. Good body and flavorful beer, sweet/syrupy, plum/prunes, with a pleasant and slightly biitter finish. A very fine barley wine.
