| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 8, 2008 pours a dark copper-almost mahogany colour. Heavy sediment. Aroma is very sweet and malty, fruity raisin and fig tones, brandy like alc. & light vanilla.
Flavour is initially quite sweet. Fruitcake dried dates and cherries with a cakey malt transitions into a cherry brandy like alc, and finishes with a slightly mettalic bitterness.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 8, 2008 Pours a medium amber. Thin head. Aroma like a Christmas fruitcake - very sweet - also somewhat malty, nutty. Taste is good, sweet at first, with maybe some fig/date to it, very nice. Then a half-second later the alcohol kicks in with a nice burn. Then the finish is a bit tinny and bitter. Overall a good barleywine, maybe even a great one, but not quite a spectacular one. awautlet (45), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 20/20 | Jul 8, 2008 Malty, almost sweet smelling nose. Crisp up front but then very malty. Notes of burnt sugar, caramel and a slight dark fruitness with hints of nuts. Nice hop to the finish to balance. Alcohol is apparent and gives a nice warming affect. esjaygee (1600), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 7, 2008 Copper with a thin tan head. Aroma of sweet malts, alcohol, nuts, fruit and caramel. Taste is fruity with nuts, caramel, alcohol and sweet malts and mild hops mixed in. Malted body is a little too sweet and alcoholic. Decent barley wine. gueuzeisgod (109), Graham, North Carolina, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 6, 2008 12oz bottle, new vintage. Retains a nice fine bubbled head with some adhesive spots. Rich aroma of toffee, caramel, darker fruits, earthy hops. Taste is well balanced for an ale that is this strong and so young. Creamy, silky mouthfeel gives way to a firm but unaggressive hop bitterness that endures to a dry exit. Very happy that this one is not over hopped or citrusy, some BWs are difficult to drink until they are 5 years old. dalekliz (546), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 4, 2008 Bottle. Pours a lovely clear amber-red with a thick white head that lingers a while. Aroma of dark fruits - plums, dates, figs - and malt. Taste is big and bitter with a hint of sweetness, of malt and fruit. The alcohol comes through with just a hint. Great lingering malty bitterness. Very nice barley wine. BrewDad (2393), Olympia, Washington, USA
