| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 31, 2007 12 oz. Bottle. Pours a murky dark with a thin head. Small sweet malt armoa. Very nice flavor with very small hops upfront folloed by the sweet malty finish that covers the alcohol nicely. This is a very good Barley Wine. holdenn (1449), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Complex aroma of caramelized malts, burnt sugars, toffee, and vanilla. Malty flavors where the sweetness and bitterness is balanced well. Toffee, caramel, red fruit, alcohol, earthy, with a light piney bitterness. Very tasty. bp (482), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 22, 2007 Bottle (Batch 7800): Pours a murky brown with little chunks of yeast floating around (wasn’t expecting that - this is less than a yr old according to the batch ID), aroma of caramel, taste is malty, toffee, dry, with a slight bitter aftertaste, thick mouthfeel. Probably one of the better barely wines I’ve had. lumberjack (178), Michigan, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 21, 2007 Clear brown-red tint with no apparent head. Aroma is of strong caramel malts, alcohol, and vanilla. Flavor is a very strong rich maltiness. Very warm at first. Also present are caramel, butterscotch, brown sugar, alcohol and some others I cant determine. Buttery, silky texture with a nice aftertaste. I will store some of these for aging. yobdoog (1533), Woodridge NY, New York, USA

Beyond just being a beautiful glass of beer it smells and tastes wonderful. Very powerful aroma of fruits and wood and caramel. Nice dessert beer. Nice thick body but is not too heavy on the mouthfeel. Not syrup, just smoothness. Floback (339), Naples, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 12, 2007 Pours a gorgeous murkified dark-clustered brown-ish opaque brown-on-brown color with no head and a 1cm. tan rim. Nose is oak barrel and caramel. The lacing is spotted and numerous. Flavors are enormous here: robust caramel, BIG caramel, strong oak, a bit overpowering, but redeemable after a few sips. Soft carbonation, huge body. Rich and warming. This beer is quite a mouthful and alcohol is hidden well despite the mouthiness of the body. A roaring fire and snowy night would seem appropriate. It’s too bad that 60 degrees is the lowest temperature it gets here every year. Hudspart (374), Hudsonville, Michigan, USA
