Tap at Ashley’s. Poured a hazy dark amber with an off-white head. Lots of malt and barley in the aroma with undertones of smokiness and some nuttiness. Flavor was sweet with malt and barley notes. It was quite thick on the tongue.

A beautiful old ale. Caramel, malty, nutty. Just enough carbonation and dryness to keep it from getting too sweet to drink. Could have a couple bottles easy. Well, easy on the palate, not on the walking away.

Cloudy amber color. Some head with little lacing. Smell is nutty, malty, with a little alcohol. Taste is crazy-legit—hoppier than expected, with fruity, malty undertones. Pleasant alcohol presence is also detectable. Really, really good.

Aroma is of sweet malty notes with little fruits. Flavor similar. Not a bad beer.

Bottle. Appearance: Pours a dark brown with just a ring of bubbly off-white head that lingers. Aroma: Sweet and malty with some fruit on the nose. Flavor: Molasses and brown sugar with dark fruit notes. Alcohol is definitely present in this one. Palate: Medium-full body. Slick, syrupy mouthfeel. The alcohol lingered as it warmed up. Overall: A respectable barley wine for sure. This is the first beer I’ve had from Bells, I guess you could say I dove right in. I don’t regret it for a minute.

Bottle, thanks to tytoanderso. Aroma big and malty with tons of toffee and brown sugar, orange fruits cutting through just a bit, not sure if it’s from hops or not. Flavor follows just as expected. Wasn’t bad at all, enjoyable even, but also for me exactly the same as many another such beast.

Bottle pours dark brown with a thin beige head. Lots of malty goodness in the nose. Flavor is lots of malt, dark ripe fruit, and a little booze.

bottle, pours brown with a medium off white head. Aroma is light with brown sugar, some vanilla and yeast. Flavors start mildly sweet with some biscuit malt and a tart apricot feel that yeilds to a hop and spiced peppercorn finish. Lingers, but is dry at the same time. A nice barley wine that grows in character as it warms with some alcohol in the finish as well. Carbonation is moderate with a medium to heavy mouthfeel. I could sip this for a while.
