Thick and rich in appearance, texture, and flavour. It has a deep, slightly reddish brown colour and it is somewhat cloudy, giving it a different and memorable appearance if not exactly ideal. it has a nicely laced, long lasting, frothy head that is indicative of the thick & frothy, but not fizzy, texture. The flavour has a definite sweetness to it, but this wonderfully offsets the strong, rich, full bodied flavours and the hoppy bitterness. Heavy duty, but also very drinkable and memorable.

Draft at the brewpub. Poured a murky brown color with red highlights. Head was thick and off white with decent lacing. Smelled of raisin, port wine, and molasses. Thick, full bodied mouth feel. Very sweet on the tongue with lots of raisin flavor accented by molasses and light brown sugar.

On tap at brewery. Dark amber; min. head. Aroma and flavor of Scotch wood, bitter fruit rind, molassas & booze. Very rich with significant bitterness. Some funky tropical fruit rind finish lingers. Big, flavorful but a bit rough.

On tap @ 3rd St. poured a cloudy dark reddish brown with a lingering amber head. Aromas of carmel, dark fruit and some vinous notes. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of dark fruit, carmel and light toffee with a smooth warming bittersweet finish.
