Wulfstan (481), California, USA Dec 6, 2007 Updated: Oct 2, 2008Dark, coppery gold with a white head that quickly dissipated to a ring that eventually vanished itself. The aroma is very light malt and faint floweriness, but all very mild. The taste is a little stronger, being mild, somewhat sweet caramel malt at first, with pronounced hop bitterness balancing afterwards, some piney hop flavour, followed by a long, mellow, lightly toasted grain aftertaste. It is fairly crisp and refreshing, basically enjoyable, but it is a little too bitter for the relatively bland flavour and weak body. It’s ok, but not great. bhensonb (3010), Woodland, California, USA Nov 27, 2007 Draft at the brewpub as Dortmunder Lager. Very light aroma of malt. Darkish gold color with a white head that left rapidly. Flavor hints of cola, but mostly light caramel malt. Noble hop bitterness balances. The finish is decently dryish and bitter. Improved with a bowl of chili. pivo (2488), Germany Mar 17, 2007 Amber color, sticky head. Candy sweet malt, tight dry bitter end. Creamy mouth feel. Not a Dortmunder, and not very good. jazz88 (2206), San Francisco, California, USA Jan 21, 2003 Tap. Dark golden color with a foamy white head. A yeasty lager like aftertaste. A little sweet. argo0 (6230), Washington DC, USA Feb 8, 2002 Tasting Notes from Fall 2000: Nice lager, though it tastes more like an ale. Smooth, reasonably hopped
