Wulfstan (443), California, USA Sep 17, 2007 Updated: Feb 14, 2008A good, strong, flavourful and well-balanced beer. It has a full, well rounded and balanced flavour with a pleasant toastiness, a hint of spiciness, and a good hoppy element without being overly bitter. It has a pretty good head and nie lacing. In the end, it is good-looking and both very flavourful and very drinkable.
On Cask: This is one Aleworks beer that I definitely like less well on cask (usually, I like cask versions more or about the same but for different reasons). It is a little more bitter, astringent in flavour and throat fell, and less well-balanced on cask. This would reduce flavour to about 8 anf palate to 3. General_Gao (2509), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Sep 6, 2007 Draft at the brewpub. 5.6% AbV. Poured a clear red color. Head was off white in color. Smelled and tasted of toasted bread and spicy malt. Dry on the tongue with mild hop bitterness. So so.
