beerguy101 (3468), Newark, California, USA May 4, 2008 Tasted at the April Northern California Beer Tasting. This saison poured a light orange gold color from a corked 750ml bottle. Large sized white foamy head. The aroma was fruity and spicy, with a definite ‘herbal’ aroma. A light to medium bodied saison. The malts were fruity and sweet. The hops were herbal. I suspect they used summit or one of those other ‘herbal’ hops, although I know they probably didn’t. This beer can be summed up with the tern HERB, or gonja. It was OK, but the spices used were not to my liking. A touch thin and watery as well. Mouthfeel is thin. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
CamdenD (570), Madrid, Spain Jul 20, 2008 Nice saison, a bit underwhelming, but nicely bitter for 4.5%. A little metallic and thin on the tongue. MakeItDrinkIt (60), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 11, 2008 Hazy golden color with a huge fluffy pillowy shite head. Aroma is spicy/floral hops, a touch of malt, and yeast. Flavor is a fairly dry saison - a touch spicy, and a bit bitter. There are glimpses of the malt, but the hop bittering and drying yeast pounce too swiftely for me to palette-ize them. Some coriander and biscut notes come through after a bit. Nice bier, interesting flavors, not a favorite but I won’t waste any either! PhillyBeer2112 (1836), Orange Park, Florida, USA Jun 26, 2008 Appealing herbal and floral aroma with little hints of bubblegum floating about, along with a peaky little pie-spice, like cinnamon or allspice. There’s something in this nose that I can almost place but just can’t - a real brain teaser. Yes yes, its the ganja. Herbal, light and wheaty, very refreshing. Somewhat grassy and hoppy toward the finish, mostly dry. Is it vinous? Maybe. Golden amber color, the bottle gushed lightly upon opening and produced a voluminous protein-laden meringue head. A real beauty example of a low alcohol beer being fully flavorful, complex and downright good. I could take this everyday, its a new favorite. bgburdman9 (721), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jun 24, 2008 An old rating i finally got to entering. Aroma was earthy hops with a weird funk to it. A little hoppy bitterness to this one. Alldaydrinker (457), Norwood, Massachusetts, USA Jun 4, 2008 Pours a pee yellow color with a small white head. Nose is yeasty, barnyard funk, cheese and grass, ouch. Taste begins hopppy with rhiney bitterness, earthiness spreads acrsoss the mouth. Mid palate wet hay. Finishing with balancing hops, grassiness continuing. Dry finish. Palate duration is average.Average head retention. Light body. Definitely refreshing, drinkable, but slightly over rated.
