| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 12, 2006 (Draft at brewery). When you can get it, have this bear! Black. Malty aroma with, sometimes, just a hint of diacetyl. Rich, roasty character finishes very smooth. A tasty beverage. LaChad (1375), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 9, 2004 Tap. Near opaque, with mahogany around the edges. Not much of a distinguishable aroma, apart from nice sweet maltiness. Finishes a lot like their brown bear, but I’m kind of a sucker for simple dark lagers like this one so chalk up some extra points. jazz88 (2237), San Francisco, California, USA
