Part of a tasting tray sampler at the brewpub. Deep amber brwon, clear. Breadcrusts, dried leaves, toasty toffee, husky, nutty. Better than their pale beers.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with a deep amber glare and a small off-white head. Roasted caramelish and slight liqourice aroma. Sweet, toffee and roasted caramel malt flavoured with a mild butterish touch. Roasted and bitter finish with a persisting dark to breadish malt flavour into the far finish.

I had this on draft at the Thirsty Bear brewpub. Roasty flavor and nose, finishes nicely.

~Pours a clear brownish amber color with small head. ~Strong scent of caramel malts, alcohol and some roasted malt (coffee like). ~Roasted malt flavor, some toffee and slight citrus. ~Medium smooth feel. Roasted malt finish. ~Very nice brown ale! gets better as it warms up.

Good beer. Standard recipe used in all their beers as a base or at least it tastes like it. Good base though. Barely noticeable hops. Nice flavor.

Tap at the brewpub: Amber pour with a fading off white head. Lots of caramel in the aroma- only a touch of peanut brittle. Very sweet flavor. Lacking body, slick and sweet. Tons of caramel and substantial diacetyl followed by late husk. Eh.
