Commercial Description:
The brown and caramel malts give this classic British style brown ale a lovely mouth feel and a fragrant, toasty malt aroma.

Sampled on tap at the brewpub on 12/17/2008. This brown ale pours a medium brown color from the tap. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is slightly nutty, caramel and sweet. A medium bodied brown ale. The malts are caramel and sweet, touch of nuts. The hops are earthy and floral. Nice balance. A fairly standard but nice brown ale. It went very well with my lamb burger. Good carbonation. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Poured from tap at brewpub brown with medium-sized light tan head. Aroma is roasted grain and chocolate. Flavor is roasted grain, cocoa powder, light toast, some nuttiness and a nice smooth light bitterness. Palate is light malt with a smooth grainy bitterness, seems more like a porter than a brown ale. Overall, this beer was my favorite of the night beside the barleywine.

Draft at the brewpub. Poured a clear orange-brown color with a light khaki head. Some lace was left behind on the glass. Distinct chocolate and nut aromas ala Nutella. The flavor was similar, but there was also a bit of roasty malt. Light bodied and slightly sweet. Not bad.

Draft. Dark copper beer with a light tan head. Light toasty, cocoa, rich malt aroma. Caramel, grainy flavor with low hop backing. Medium bodied. Lingering caramel and grass.

Sampled at the brew house. Flavor was pretty good with some solid malts. Color was nice and mouthfeel was smooth. Definitely worth a try.

Pours a nice ruby color with white head. Malt flavor up front, but not much depth. Thin finish.

Deep amber, almost maroon color. Dry dusted malt aroma with some dusty malt flavor as well that is rounded well enough to render this a solid brown ale offering.

Pint at the Thirsty Bear in San Francisco, 19th Feb 2008. Ruby brown in colour with a simple aroma of caramel malt. Solid palate, tastes like a fruity, malty brown ale. OK I guess, but served too cold in my (British) opinion.
