Nov 29, 2005 On tap, at the brewpub. Dark brown, small tan head. Smells like toast! Toasted nutty brown aroma - nice. Really nice nutty brown taste. Lingering sweetness. A little watery, but otherwise solid - an excellent brown ale.

Sep 12, 2005 On tap at the brewpub in downtown San Francisco. Has a light brown head with decent lacing. Light copper appearance. The aroma has a bit of a sweet sugary essence to it. Some chocolate in the flavor with an enticing bit of smokiness. Smooth palate. Very decent.

Dec 12, 2004 Tap. Red copper ale with a rich roasted malt aroma. Nice light nuts and malts with a nice hoppy finish. Light bodied but well balanced. (June 2004).

Sep 9, 2004 Tap. Reddish brown, strong roasted coffee aroma. Something like a little brother of their stout. Dark malty notes throughout., some chocolate. Mild effervescence, some soda flavor in there.

Dec 27, 2003 Clear orange/brown color with a creamy off-white head. Faint hops and malt aroma. Crisp, slightly hoppy flavor with toasted nut and brown sugar. Fairly dry finish.
