(On tap) Clear, warm, dark amber golden with a small, off-white head. Roasted, nutty aroma. The body is medium with sweetish, malty accents of burned caramel and nuts. Dry, lightly bitter finish. 240307

Draught at the brewpub. Nut brown. Neutral aroma. Sweet and roasty with syrupy mouthfeel. There are some pleasant roasty malt and the finish holds light licorice-like hoppy bitterness, but it’s just not firm enough. The malt profile needs some work.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with a deep amber glare and a small off-white head. Roasted caramelish and slight liqourice aroma. Sweet, toffee and roasted caramel malt flavoured with a mild butterish touch. Roasted and bitter finish with a persisting dark to breadish malt flavour into the far finish.

Dark amber colour. Light nutty aroma. Strange - some very sweet almondy, molassey character but some astringent roast in there as well. Neither element is all that appealing and together they don’t work at all.

Tap. Red copper ale with a rich roasted malt aroma. Nice light nuts and malts with a nice hoppy finish. Light bodied but well balanced. (June 2004).
