Tap. Amber ale with faint malt aroma. Rather pale lager for a dubbel. No spices in aroma. Sweetned water with not much else. Boring and totally besides the point. (June 2004).

Apr 5, 2006 On tap at the brewpub. The current name du jour for this brew is now "Mac Dobel." Very reddish dark amber with a thin off-white head. Limited roasted aroma. Flavor is very complex. Thick and rich This was the highest gravity beer sold when I was there (7.7% ABV). Has an element of burnt roastedness, maybe even stale cigarettes, but it works in this! Fruity raisins, berries and prunes are in the mix. Has a thick mouth coating malt wash.

Feb 25, 2005 02.18.05 Called "Abbey de Dobel" Maybe a new batch because this beer was pretty good, IMO. Coppery-red with little head. Raisins, plum, boozy, some pepper. Nice, laid back style. Definitely a dubbel. Went great with cheese plate.
