Commercial Description:
Toasty red in color, this is our Extra Special Bitter. It's round, rich flavor is balanced by a subtle bitterness and a fragrant hop finish. A unique blend of nitrogen and carbon dioxide gases gives this beer a smoother, more flavorful palette and a creamy rich head without the strong bite associated with highly carbonated beers.

On tap (nitro) at the brewpub. Dark brown, faint sweet malt aroma (nitro hurts it here). Thick nitro tan head. Decent malt taste, hops not present at all except at the end as they linger. Bland city, put this on cask not nitro and let’s see how the beer tastes.

Tap at the brewpub: Deep copper with a strong lacing off white head. Sweet aroma, diacetyl (like many of their beers), and toffee. Vague. Slick texture with a sweet diacetyl flavor (surprise). What’s up with Thirsty Bear and diacetyl? Tastes like they brew with buttered popcorn.

Clear red-amber color, frothy nitro head. Light creamy malt base with a subdued bitter towards the end. It builds on itself through the glass so that the bitter becomes more complex later on. Soft texture and a decent ESB.

Deep amber coloured body with a ruby tint. Very hoppy in the nose with some stronger caramel malt playing a part as well. Medium-bodied with a very smooth taste. From the beginning, you knew this was Nitrogenated and it obviously shows off in the taste too, which is a good thing. Bitterness from the hops and structure from the malt is very noticeable in this one and it works. Aftertaste shows the english hop bitterness and it’s welcomed. I sampled this beer on draught at the brewpub on 28-February-2007.

02.18.05 Lightly malty nose pervades from beneath a thick froth. Lightly floral. Light and soft body. Light fruits and a mite of apricot. Light. But solid.
