| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Nov 9, 2009 Bottle. Dark amber body. Fizzy, off-white head, quickly diminishing. Aroma of raw grain, bread, caramel. Hint of vegetables. The flavor is moderately to heavilyt sweet, lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter and lightly acidic. The overly sweet backbone sits behind a raw, unclean grain taste — like sucking on a handful of husks. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. A mess of a marzen. No clarity of aroma or flavor. Too much of an unrefined malt taste. Far cry from the better Oktoberfests.

| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | Oct 31, 2009 Happy Halloween! Nice amber color, but not much of a head. The aroma is pretty stark for an O-fest, bready and almost sour. This drinks with a distinct buttery, muffin-like sweetness, not at all in a pleasant way. Not diggin’ this one. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 22, 2009 Pours a clean copper amber with a one finger dirty white head. Nose is sweet and malty, caramel, toasted malt, leafy hops, mild spicy phenol. Flavor has a nice sweet malt character, mild toasted grain with caramel undertones, spicy hop bite lingers against the bready backdrop. Palate is dry and nicely bittered with a nice residual sweetness. EithCubes (2169), Indiana, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Oct 21, 2009 Bottle to celebrate a return to The Series, turns out to be the 10th rating for this brew. Grainy, puke-soaked nose with subtle pale malts. Fizzy beige head with a dark orange body. Nutty, strong Vienna and Munich overtones, but there’s definitely some barfiness in with the caramel. Harsh grainy notes, a bit too much alky, even for 6%, and a little residual sweetness in with the mild bitterness. Medium body and slick. What doth this most pernicious slop portend? Hopefully a good showing in the Bronx. shawnm213 (997), South Bend, Indiana, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 20, 2009 pours amber with a white head. Notes of caramel, bread, spices, vegtables. Just ok. durhambeer (1227), Durham, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Oct 13, 2009 Barktoberfest? More like Barftoberfest. Pours clear amber with thin white head. Smells vetegal and malty, and a little bit creamy and sour and carboardy like throw up. Underneath, it seems like an average marzen, but I think something’s off here. Poured out after a few sips. kevd193213 (512), Hope Valley, Rhode Island, USA

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Oct 8, 2009 12oz bottle pours a clear dark burnt amber with thin layer of offwhite head. Nose of vegetal caramel. Flavor is the same, but a little nutty, and way to grainy, like a dark esl. Kinda crappy, but drinkable.
