fiver29 (325), Strongsville, Ohio, USA Jun 1, 2008 Bottle purchased today. So its not retired. Pours golden with a white head. Has a nice sweet raspberry aroma to it. Mouthfeel is light with a lot of carbonation. Tastes like a sweet raspberry bubbly. Has a nice tart finsih at the end. Overall just a decent brew and goes down great on a hot day.
StFun (338), Indiana, USA Sep 13, 2008 This one is ranked a little low, I think. I’n not a big fan of fruit beers, but this one was pretty good. Nice berry aroma, raspberry flavor. A little tart and dry on the finish, kind of dries out the mouth. Not a whole lot going on, but what is going on is good. beezz86 (30), Jasper, Indiana, USA Sep 13, 2008 Bottle. Poured a golden color with a slight red tint. It was a clear liquid with a frothy white head. The beer had a light body, thin texture, very lively carbonation, and a long finish. The aroma and flavor were both raspberry with the aroma being stronger than the actual taste. Overall, I like this raspberry beer. I did think it was a bit heavily carbonated, but I would definately drink this again. hopscotch (4579), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Aug 13, 2008 Bottle... Vero Beach/O-Town Throwdown Part 8 Preliminary... Clear golden ale with a small, fizzy, white head. Fruity and not-all-that-artificial smelling raspberry essence. Light to medium-bodied with a course, dry mouthfeel and Champagne-like mouthfeel. The flavor starts off fruity and sweet, then quickly turns astringent and dry. Not bad. Not all that good, but not bad. Thanks to growler for sharing this bottle! EithCubes (1821), Indiana, USA Aug 8, 2008 Bottle, with a low fill-line, I might add. Cloying razz nose with some golden malt. Dark golden pour with a soapy beige head. Very crisp, lightly bitter, only lightly sweet, miles away from the cloying crap that most put out as summer fruit beers. Raspberries are very, very faint, adding only an accent. I’m pretty pleased with the restraint. Medium body has firm malt and a bit of grain, light citrus wisps and a bit of earth. Decent, very refreshing summer go, another good product from this brewer. This is your typical summer fruit beer. Not complex at all it takes about five seconds to understand. What it lacks in complexity is not made up in quality either though this is a step above your average macro ’fruit’ beer. If you are ticking give this a try. Otherwise I would suggest looking at some of the other available options.
Aroma / Appearance - The golden transparent body had the same look as every other wheat beer. A tiny white head sat above to attempt to draw interest. The scent of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich prepared on Wonderbread greets the nose. Don’t go looking for more - it isn’t there.
Flavor / Palate - Lemon lime soda with a raspberry twist flows quickly across the tongue and throat. Fading fast it takes another sip to remind the palate what is going on. For a summer fruit beer it isn’t bad but this firmly straddles the line of mediocrity.
