Caramel sweetness (burned sugar) and a solid bitterness. Beer_2000 (1164), Kristiansand, Norway Mar 15, 2008 330ml bottle. Golden reddish amber body with an off-white head. Vague aroma, a bit disappointing actually, as I was expecting some effect from the lava stone. Just malt aroma in my nose. Had some of the same expectations for the flavor as well. Quite nice malt flavor with hint of caramel, bit rather ordinary. Low bitterness. yespr (6162), Copenhagen O, Denmark Dec 6, 2007 33 cL bottle featuring a caricature of Mick Jagger. Pours amber with an off-white head. Caramel nose, slight metallic and roasted. Sweet flavoured, caramel with a slight burned note, I seem to think I can taste the effect of the lava stones added into the brew. Dry hoppy finish. Good cheeta (590), Langå, Denmark Nov 26, 2007 Heavy malty aroma. Large frothy, off-white initial apperance. Excellent lacing. Mostly lasting longevity. Clear brown body. Moderate sweet initial flavor, with a long finish duration. Medium palate. chris_o (4405), London, Greater London, England Jul 20, 2007 Bottle at Kobehavnske Oldage, May 2006. A bit confusing as this was listed in the festival programme under Grauballe, but it seems to have been some sort of collaboration between several breweries. Also a bit odd to see it categorised as an English Strong Ale but it is certainly one of those beers that is difficult to pin down to an existing style. Attractive burnished copper colour. Creamy, smoky malt aroma. Very malty palate, sweetish but with a strong bitterness coming through too. Very interesting indeed.
