| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 14, 2007 Pours dark with a copper head from the bottle-even though I brought it back from DK a couple of months ago. Smells great and looks great too.
There are some hints of coffee, licorice, and smokiness in the smell-but it isnt overpowering at all. I think that it drinks relatively smooth for a beer with an ABV this high, but it isnt for the faint of heart as it is a porter (or ’Double Brown Stout’ according to the label.) I could drink these all night as they aren’t too filling initially, but you do feel the ABV a bit after drinking it so watch out!
This is becoming one of my favorite beers from Denmark and I will continue to bring at least a bottle or two home from each visit if I can. Brix (373), Denmark

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Mar 2, 2007 Updated: Mar 3, 2007Very dark beer with mahogany highlights when held against the light. It poured with a substantial foamy tan head. Sweet roasted grain nose that moved toward smokey charcol as it warmed. Lots of burnt toast, dark brown sugar, molassess, some sweetened coffee and a fig fruitiness. There was a long dry burnt astringency in the finish. Very full mouthfeel. If you like burnt grains, this is your beer. Many thanks to Santa Papsoe for this treat. skortila (2907), Bunnik, Netherlands

Taste is sweet, chocolate-bitter, fruits, (oranges/citrus), smoke, some sugar and hints of coffee malts. Well bodied and well balanced. Excellent brew. coldbrewky (736), Saugerties, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Feb 18, 2007 Great thanks to Maria for sending me this wonderful beer. It alone is worth further first hand research at the brewery. Methinks another beer tour is slowly creeping upon the horizon. Pours a medium/dark brown with a fizzy, nearly soda-like head. Settles to gentle mocha crater. Sweet nose of caramel and sugar. With intense dry malty body with strong black patent crisp finish. A pretty ring of carbonation along glass. Thanks for your local brew Maria! Maria (6299), Thisted, Denmark
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 1, 2007 I’m lucky that this world class beer is available in many of the restaurants and inns around here, where the alternative is a more or less boring pale lager (I’m allergic to wine). The first time I had it - I was terrified! But later when I started to appreciate the stouts, it soon became one of the favourites. The body is pitch black and the head is huge, creamy and dark nougat brown. The aroma has notes of smoke, tar and licorice and the mouthfeel is oily. The flavour has a lot of bitter chocolate and licorice, but it also has notes of coffee, smoke, roasted malt and a lot more. It’s like this beer is an on-going experience, I find new sides of it every time I drink it. Sometimes it feels rough and raw - and sometimes it’s like smooth and fine velvet.
It’s a very, very nice beer! Rating # 500
