Nose is dry baking chocolate and coffee. Bracing, dry bitter baking chocolate flavors, black coffee. Once this guy fully warms, everything smooths out, and a dark fruit quality appears in the flavor and nose. Bitter black coffee finish. Light bodied without being thin. [24-09-2006Bottle. Pitch dark color. Nice brown head. This beer is very smoky and coffee like in flavor and aroma.] Nice creamy beige head that mostly lasted. Good lacing. Color was black. Aroma was coffee, chocolate, smoke, licorice, roasted. Defiantly not as smoky as I originally thought it was. Quit smooth and very drinkable. Medium to full bodied with a soft carbonation. Flavor was moderates sweet with good balance bitterness from the burned notes. Finish was quit sweet with again some balancing burned notes. Great beer. JPDIPSO (4928), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
