Dark brown in color with a thin, brown head. Milk chocolate flavor with a touch of roast and smoke. Fruitiness carries over from the aroma into the finish. Medium to light body that is very drinkable. Interesting, thanks to MrFacto for sharing. Borup (1360), Albertslund, Denmark

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 14, 2006 Bottle, shared by MrFacto - thanks, Matt! Barely translucent and mahogany in color with a glacial thin dust sheaf and cathartic tan doily rungs. Dark rustic cocoa beans roll in muddy mulch as the aromatic sequence begins, meeting up with tobacco seed, stork chocolate reisens, and prunes scattered amidst charcoal ash. Smoky tobacco prevails more in flavor with a bit of singed ash tree and charcoal traces. Dry, smoky flair weaves between milk chocolate and bittersweet bricks. Hint of sulfur arises but is bested by roasted pecans frolicking in cocoa dust. French roast grinds scatter with mocha beans and then get whammed by a hammer. Supple carbonation promotes the medium-body while a dry, roasted chocolate tract bows with coffee grinds at the curtain call, along with an encore of dark cigar wrappers and corresponding seeds. Opened as the night was winding down, this was a nice treat. I haven’t had
very many baltic porters but it was esy to tell that some thought had been
put into this one. Thanks to StewartOfGondor, who I believe was the one
responsible for bringing it. If not, let me know who it was and I will
update the rating.
Aroma / Appearance - Smoke, cocoa powder and ritz crackers were the
main players in this nose. It looked almost like flat Pepsi, though there
may have been something going on in the body. It was very dark soaking up
all light, thus making it impossible to tell for sure. The lacing and head
were both a dirty mocha color.
Flavor / Palate - Butter, coffee, smoke and butterscotch came across
the first two sips. Next was a chocolately taste that reminded me of the
’high end’ chocolates you can buy at a grocery store; not quite boutique but
not the waxy cheap stuff either. Very solid and enjoyable until the end
which featured a sharp, dry finish. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA

Aromas are burnt chocolate, and coffee,. More of the same in the flavor, but with a decent hop bite and a nice dusty finish. A touch of alcohol come through after the swallow drying the tongue slightly. Very good. Thanks Lars for coming all the way From Denmark to hang with me and bring me this beer. fonefan (11525), VestJylland, Denmark

href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?U target=blank>henrikb, thank you Christoffer, Martin and Henrik. Near black in colour, some deep ruby around the edges. Large long lasting beige coloured head, nice lacing. The aroma is of roasted malts, licorice, coffee and chocolate. The flavour is very roasty and burnt, creamy, some noticable alcohol, dark chocolate, espresso, quite sweet, Moderately bitter mouthfeel, large body, medium high carbonation. Finishes with a noticable alcohol warmth, very roasty. Its pretty sweet with lots of roasted malt bitterness and I really enjoyed it but it didn’t have the balance I was looking for.
