Very strong taste and thick body: roasty, chocolate, coffee, very black. Good beer to mix with other liquid, for an example "snaps", pilsner, citrus etc. U gotta try Limfjords Porter!!! ;-) cathcacr (590), Portland, Oregon, USA

There is a strong smoked-meat character here, I won’t say bacon, that’s just too easy. More like smoked salmon. Smoked salmon in a bottle. Yum. Now that’s good beer.

Pours black with grey highlights (is that a contradiction?) and a way chunky tan head. Nose is awesome, chcolate, licorice and coffee. Taste starts with chocolate, then some coffee, some licorice and anise, some more chocolate and a LONG lingering coffee/cacao finish that is absolutely divine. I swear i taste some plums and raisins in that finish, as well as some oats and lactose. Damn there is hardly a dark beer flavor i do NOT taste in this divine brew...even some subtle smokiness...!! Bravo to Thisted Bryghus, this is a stellar world class beer. paiste2002 (158), Saugus, California, USA
| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Oct 27, 2009 Bottle. Pours pitch black with a huge tan head that lasts a good ten minuets into this lovely beer. As I type there is still a thick layer of tan foam covering the beer, also leaves some awesome lace.
Aroma is peated malt smokiness over chocolate. Flavor is smoky peated malt, chocolate, coffee and some raisin in the mix. The black licorice really comes through in the finish, along with bitter chocolate. Very creamy mouth feel, this would go great with chocolate cake. Wow! This was a huge surprise to say the least, I’d heard to was great but this one lives up to the hype, and only $4.99 a bottle. Better stock up. Travlr (769), Washington, Washington DC, USA

Very black, with a brown head. Aroma of milk chocolate. Nice flavor of roasted coffee with a smoky edge. Subtle and complex. Find this one. austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 20, 2005 Quite creamy and roasty with a burnt mouthfeel - like a charred tree. Vinous and thick with plenty of flavor. Tar-like in some ways. A serious stout-ish porter for purists. Not to be trifled with. Perhaps the slightest hint of alcohol, which is remarkably subtle given its ABV. Well done!!!! A superlative example of the best Denmark has to offer. demolayfire (18), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 13, 2009 Incredible Baltic Porter much closer in spirit to Synebrichoff or Carnegie than other Baltics. Viscous, deep, dark, smokey, bitter sweet, ashy goodness. Amazing that people freak out about Abyss when this is widely available. Jokes (1453), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 20, 2004 Thick, dark body and copious tan head, both of which were much fuller in appearance than I expected. Sort of like the (in my opinion) Dark Lord of the Baltic Porter appearance world. The aroma is incredibly strong and almost too much. Super strong roasted malt aroma with bread turned charcoal, fresh ground coffee beans, intense smoke, light notes of dark chocolate and a touch the aforementioned licorice. Thick and full in the mouth, this is a creamy dream of a beer. Incredibly malty with great roasted bitterness that just dominates the flavor. The previously too-intense smoke comes to be a nice compliment to the insane malts. A hint of chocolate and caramel sweetness moves to the forefront in the middle before embracing it's ultimate role as submissive to the massive malts. Many thanks to Jeppe (BierKönig) for sending me a couple of these. Seek this beauty out--it's worth the effort.
