Commercial Description:
Note: Retired in November 2003.

Thomas Cooper Finest Export is brewed using a blend of distinctive and complimentary malts from the finest Australian barley. Choicest Pride of Ringwood hops are used early in the kettle boil, providing hop character with a clean palate. An ale yeast selected for its smoothly drinkable results is added to cause fermentation and the brew is finally matured in Coopers' cold cellar. The result is a very thirst-quenching beer of brilliant clarity which reflects both the history of Coopers Brewery as well as the country of its origin.

This beer did not do anything for me at all. Some old musty flavors and aromas. The taste is crisp, but bland with just a hint of hops and honey. Watery malt flavors are predominant. Unsatisfying.

Bottled, Sydney. The second beer I had after stepping off the plane (Tooheys Old, mothers milk, was first). Golden amber with a shinny white head. Soft malts, caramel and vanilla. Easy drinking but not memorable. Most Coopers beers distinguish and differentiate themselves, this doesn’t, quite.

Thought this was half decent but just didn't go anywhere. Golden colour with a large frothy and lasting head, floral aroma and light malty dusty taste.

Pours clear yellow with rather large foamy white head. Highly carbonated appearance, though only a slight "fsst" while opening the bottle. Head retention is *alright* not great though. Corn syrup / sugar aroma present, with a hint of POR hop aroma. Watery, though initally smooth?? mouthfeel, dry crisp lager-like finish. Initial sweet malty taste, well balanced with bitterness. Typical australian "premium" beer. Slight metallic aftertaste.

The problem with this is that it is not the great bottle conditioned ale that some other stablemates are. Therefore the perception is that it just isn't a Coopers. Silly I know, but the problem here is that the beer falls down in the flavour and character stakes. The mention of POR as a positive always leaves me cold as this hop just doesn't do anything but provide some bitterness. Clearly thsi beer will put hair on your chest, as evidenced by the beard on the lable that looks like it extends to Tom's pubes.

Pale amber yellow with pale brown 3-4 mm long bits of hops? Small short lasting white head and some light lace. Faint stale hops and mild sweet corn aroma. Some caramel malt on warming. Overly mild bitter hops and faint caramel sweet flavours. Maybe it’s been wussed down for the export market. Unpleasant stale chemical/metallic finish and aftertaste.
