Has a light spicy, roasted malt aroma. Unfortunately, it taste like all the other TC beers. It has that twang to it. It does have some light roasted malt flavor. Very watery. Light body. So-so beer. Thanks Steve. Oakes (8093), gone rambling, Vietnam
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 20, 2006 Very dark reddish-brown color. Head so thick and bone-coloured it looks like nitro. Chewy molasses aroma with alcohol and earth. Sweet and strong flavour. Stinging malts - earth and molasses mainly - bring a lot of intensity to the table. Certainly not as rounded as the better European examples but this is not without appeal. decaturstevo (1997), decatur, Tennessee, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 9, 2006 Poured a dark brown/red with a light head and a decent lacing. A sweet toasted caramel aroma. A slightly fizzy palate. A strange kind of almost citrus flavor along with some coffeness. An odd but not unplesant flavor. A good bitter bite but it fades quickly. If I made a beer this good I wouldn’t hesitate to serve it to anyone who could appreciate it. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 19, 2006 Brown cola body, creamy tan head. Chocolatey christmas spice in aroma. Flavor has sour-like hops on a roasty malt body. Okay, but a bit sour... though, well meshed with the beer. JPDIPSO (4912), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 31, 2006 Chestnut color with a taller mocha brown head. An interesting aroma amalgamation with spiced caramel and a touch of DMS. Cinnamon and cherries also in the nose. Fairly light feel, but it works for me, soft, gentle and smooth. Now if someone would have told me this was a winter lager, I may have been more open to this. Dry caramel malt, with some spiced nuts in the front and middle. Rather acrid and slightly biting in the finish. LInger is dry and loses a palate point for its sharpness. Somethings just not quite right here. THanks for the bottle Joel. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Mar 18, 2006 Deep, chocolate-chestnut brown in color and mildly hazy with a thin pinhole pocked sheaf of tan moving about as the head. Strange aromatic tune, pumping out campfires, burnt brown sugar, caramel, toasted graham crackers, nutmeg, light molasses and chocolate-covered & freeze-dried prunes. Creamy onset and then a mulled apple butter flavor hits a souring node. Slippery, salted pecans dipped in grease, with a curt, dry bitterness hollowing out the tongue’s center groove. Light cocoa powder fulfills the chocolate bill at best. Syrupy palate recession that seems to dehydrate the mouth. Carbonation’s adequate. Caramel dipped apples sprinkled with cinnamon and nutmeg runs all around us in the end. Noble hops are a touch too spicy, especially in the aftertaste. Guess it was worth a shot. Aroma is tart and sickly smelling like rotting fruits. Dark brown/mahogany in color with a quickly fading tan head. Fore is more rotting/overripe fruits..syrupy mandarin orange notes. Chocolate and caramel malts behind that. The finish is decidedly watery and off tasting. Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 26, 2005 Pours ruby brown with a fluffy head. Smells of chocolate, coffee, tarte overripe fruit, spring flowers. Taste is very tarte with an average compliment of roasty chocolate dotting the taste buds. As the beer warms, some cognac like qualities pop up only to give way to more tartness. Finish is of hot cocoa and marshmellows.
