This full-bodied friend saved my life. I won’t claim that it was the kind of friend you see daily and eat out together with, or even the friend you see once a month on the weekend just to appease them, but that friend you see every once in a while who somehow can tell when you’re pissed about something and you fell better having seen them. It was the first drink of the night, it was pretty good, it put me in a better mood. Scubatrip (388), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA

Tastes of creamy cherries. This one was enjoyed during "an environmentally friendly fiddle tune," or so said a member of the bluegrass band that was on stage. And that’s why I don’t like hippies. Maybe the best American dopplebock I have ever had. Very impressive. BeerandBlues2 (3231), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

Medium bodied and fizzy palate. slang (407), Columbia, South Carolina, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 8, 2005 Nice stouty beer here. Brown black, with an good head. Malty to there core and very creamy. Two things it lacks...1.) the dopple part, alochol 2.) a better yeast. Once these damn ABV laws clear they have the foundation for a great beer. South Carolina, baby! | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 29, 2005 This poured dark chestnut, with a fluffy foamy tan head. Sweet nose with traces of spce and orange cinamin, and roasted malts. This tasted very spice, I would swear this to be a winter warmer, if not for the alcohol wamrth lacking. The flavors swirl from chocolate to cinamin to syrup sweetness tofruit. Why is this rated so low? for being off style, or people not liking spices? jsquire (2123), St. Marys, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 26, 2005 This beer glows a ruby/garnet color when held up to the light, with an initial foamy beige head that shrinks to a lasting slick and leaves good lace. Sweet malt syrup nose with hints of burnt toast. Lots of dusty chocolate, some coffee, roast grains and an almost berry tartness as it warms. Finish is more coffee and bitter chocolate on the tongue. Okay beer.
