| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 22, 2009 Had on tap at Stogies and Stouts. Maybe I was off, but I loved this beer. It was my favorite of the evening, actually. Flavor was rich, roasted nuts, carmalized sugar, and some milk chocolate. Easily drinkable. I loved it! Beershine (2754), Traipsing Around, China
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 21, 2009 Draught sample @ Jupiter beerfest. Rich dark brown with red tint, tan head. Aroma is milk chocolate, cocoa powder. Cocoa powder persists in the body. Soft creamy mouthfeel. Smooth brew. Not very doppelbock-like but still nice. daknole (3032), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jan 25, 2009 Poured at the Jupiter brewfest. Copper pour. Light head. Aroma is all malt..and flavor is just a bit odd. I agree with another rater who said this has cider notes....interesting take on the style but not a winner IMO. DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 6, 2009 Bottle. Strong malty aroma. Deep mahogany body, creamy head. Flavor is distinctly chocolate, with sweetness and malt, but not at all cloying. Very different for a doppelbock, but definitely enjoyable. Cybercat (826), Georgia, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Dec 19, 2008 First whiff when I opened the bottle was fruity and ciderlike, while the second was smokier and maltier but still with a strong hard cider overtone. Pours an opaque chocolaty brown with a thick, frothy, not too persistent pale tan head. Flavor is rather wan, more like cider than beer, just a hint of malt and a touch of hops and smoke, and a little watery. Texture is thin and watery, like flat cola. I have had better, but this is OK. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 17, 2008 Bottle. Pours a ruby copper with a small white head that is retained. Nose of malt, chocolate, earth, a bit of peat. Flavor is sour malt, grain, vegetal, meh. Pretty shitty. South Carolina, you suck bigtime.
