Aroma is certainly hop forward, with a big dose of piney hops mixed with some roasted malt and dark chocolate. This aroma reminds me a lot of Great Divide Yeti, as it’s very green, and it even has some licorice as well. The flavor is simple with plenty of roasted malt and dark roasted coffee that finishes out with some bitter piney hops, cocoa, and more roasted malt. The mouthfeel is a bit spritzy and thin as well. Overall this is a solid porter. Thanks Ken! holdenn (1443), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 30, 2009 12 oz bottle pours a dark brown black color with a creamy thin tan head. Roasted malts touch of sweetness and a slight phenol note. Burnt and earthy malts that are really charred leaving a bitter burnt wood flavor. Thin body light carbonation. A little heavy handed on the roasted malts, but not bad. Elwood (677), Leesburg, Virginia, USA

Appearance: Deep cola color with a small, foamy, tan head. The lively head quickly subsides.
Aroma: Roasted malt, a touch of raisin and earth, coffee, and some caramel. Definitely on the robust side, but very nice.
Flavor: Roasted malt sweetness, but not as bitter as the nose makes you think it would be. A touch of earth and wood. There is also a pleasing, slightly smokey back bitterness. Slight nut and raisin notes too. Fairly complex and quite enjoyable.
Palate: Medium carbonation with a medium-rich, smooth mouthfeel (oatmeal in the grain bill?) and a medium-long, roasty finish.
Overall: A very tasty porter indeed and worth giving a try. lithy (1700), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Black-ruby. Small, creamy head. Mild, sweet coffee aroma. Flavor: Coffee. Mild bitter finish. While it shows a hint of chocolate, coffee dominates. DJMonarch (6845), Northwich, Cheshire, England

Some burnt roast aroma. Small beige head. Black and smooth on the palate with a slightly bitter coffee roast finish. Bigsilky (322), Charleston, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 27, 2009 Hoppy nose with a touch of roasted malt and licorice. Very nice entry as dark dry maltiness enters the mouth with a well balanced texture. Dry, clean finish, with a touch of coffee on the finish. If served on nitro, this would pass for a very nice Dry Irish Stout. Never the less, should treat a fried oyster Po’ Boy with the reverance it deserves. 85
