Commercial Description:
Truly the local favorite: Our American Pale Ale is a consistent First Place winner of the annual Hartford Advocate Best of Hartford Reader's Poll award for Best Micro Brew Beer. This extremely vivid ale stresses a crisp hop bitterness, lingering flavor and the aroma of distinctive West Coast ales. A caramel sweetness in the malt balances out the chock-full-of-hops flavor to yield a complex but quite refreshing, medium-bodied brew.

Cold 12oz bottle: Pours a hazy sunset orange with minor off-white bubbles around edges. Aroma is of rich malts, fruit, grass, earth and caramel. Taste is of rich malts, subtle earthy hops, fruit, spice and caramel. Medium bodied and crisp with ample carbonation. Ending is fizzy; of earthy hops, spice and caramel, well blended.

Pours a clouded pretty dark amber. No head. Nose is sugary sweet. Flavor is not very boisterous. Kind of sweet in a metallic and all the wrong kind of ways. Makes me go "blech". Feel is thick and syrup like on the liquid. Not very drinkable as far as quality experiences go. I will pass on ever revisiting.

dark amber, whispy beige head, sweet hoppy aroma with a hint of citrus, good carmel malt flavor, well balanced with some hop bitterness that leads to a long bitter finish, nice but lacking distinctive character

Totally without charm. Pale hazy straw with small white head ... some promise. Nose of must and floral hops ... less promise. Thin in the mouth, insufficient malts, betrays the hope provided by the slight cloudines. Taste of floral hops and some metallic nasties, Maybe a hint of American west coast hops in the finish. I’d rather have a San Miguel. And I hate Spanish beer. This ended up in the sink.

Liked the look of this, hazy copper/orange with a foamy slightly off white head. Very solid and balanced aroma, spicy, citrus, piney but not overwhelming. Nice flavor, sweet and bitter, malty and citrus. Only slightly astringent finish but well balanced.

Cask, at GBBF 2005. Gold, thin low white head and gentle condition. Pleasant sweet toffee and caramel in the nose, much the same in the mouth but joined by some alcohol notes, a gentle yeastiness and a touch of hops. Low hop bitter finish.

Bottle courtesy of jjpm74! Looks great, amber pour, with a creamy tan head. Not really pumpin out much as far as aroma concerns, little grapefruit. Quite malty, and decently balanced, nothing over the top here, but its pretty good.

Not a fan. Smelled a bit like sour milk. Too much esterey stuff going on for an APA. Not as much hops as advertised. I have to say I was dissapointed. I did have fun giving "Pale American Hookers" to my non-beergeek friends though.....
