Commercial Description:
HOP MEADOW INDIA PALE ALE. The American cousin of our ESB. This pale ale was originally brewed in 19th century England to survive the long ocean voyages to their troops stationed in India - hence the name India Pale Ale. To keep the beer from spoiling during these four- to six-month odysseys, they produced a stronger, more generously hopped ale. Our creamy IPA emphasizes traditional West Coast Chinook and Cascade hops to yield a hophead's delight of a brew: just-right complexity that's not too sweet - or over-the-top with hops.

Cask@GBBF 2007. Orangey golden beer with a musty and malty aroma. The flavour is mulled, vinous and lightly fruity. Overall an average plain beer.

So sometimes, when you are sitting in a "beer" place and you are done eating, and the game on TV is on a commercial, and… well… you cannot just not rate. So I was at Bobbique’s a local beer-bbq place and I rated this beer on a piece of the one-time use paper table cloth and a purple crayon. Color is dark copper and completely lucid. A few stray carbonation bubbles gliding through the beer. Aroma is lightly resiny, light sweet-syrup hops and a burnt hop aspect at the end. Taste is tropical fruit hops with a lightly bitter leafy hops aftertaste. A very nice sweet-hop brew. On tap, mug.

Cask at GBBF 2007. The beer poured a amber color with a small off-white head. Malty hoppy aroma with some hints of citrus. Plenty of citrus flavour with a hint of pine. This beer had a lvely smooth finish.

(Bottle) Hits the tongue with an immediate explosion of flavour, mostly that of hops. The hops have a planty character and taste high-quality and somewhat refined, and somewhat complex. The malt is average and non-descript. This beer is neither too thin nor too heavy...a good balance. There’s a very slight hint of toast in the flavor too. As I drink more of it the hops tend to taste a bit weaker than the initial impression, but overall I think this is still a good one. This is one of the better IPA’s I’ve tried.

Cask-GBBF2007. Dark amber/orange cloudy hue. Definite notes of grapefruit, pine and peach. Quite complex with sweet taste to dry in the finish. A well hopped beer and one of my favourites from the GBBF 07.
