Commercial Description:
HOP MEADOW INDIA PALE ALE. The American cousin of our ESB. This pale ale was originally brewed in 19th century England to survive the long ocean voyages to their troops stationed in India - hence the name India Pale Ale. To keep the beer from spoiling during these four- to six-month odysseys, they produced a stronger, more generously hopped ale. Our creamy IPA emphasizes traditional West Coast Chinook and Cascade hops to yield a hophead's delight of a brew: just-right complexity that's not too sweet - or over-the-top with hops.

Cask @ HDG. Pours clear copper with gold with a fluffy head. Aroma is nice and hoppy with grapefruit, pine and mango. Caramel malts are roasty and toasty but the hops are the star of the show here. Although balanced the right hops are used and props to them for that. This was a damn easy drinking casked IPA. The finish was as smooth as the first gulp.

Good golden brown pour, great aroma of bitter hops. This was a little harsh for my tastes, I’m on the fence on this one.

12oz, thanks to jimbowood for this. poured hazy amber with good white head. the freshness of this bottle is questioned when the hop aroma and flavor is non existent. aroma has some stale malts and oxidation. taste isn’t that bitter with a mess of stale hops and biscuit, and caramel. i’d like to think this beer was bottled this past autumn and just a month or so past freshness but this was a weak mess of an ipa. if i find out this was over a year old i’ll re-rate but as of now, this is not a good ipa.

Bomber. This is a great example of a masculine, full bodied IPA that doesn’t have too much bite or burn, just solid, fresh flavor and well blended ingredients. Pours a thick white head that sits gracefully atop a copper body, slightly hazy. Hop aroma is very fresh, light and crisp, to the point. No syrupy resin penetrating the nostrils. flavor is more of the same. malt lingering in the shadows, just enough to provide a little backbone. Finishes light and long, with a touch of desirable acidity. Very quaffable, well done.

On tap at JP OMalleys in Allentown PA. A solid IPA for those not looking for a big hop flavor since the flavor is not overpowering.

Cask at Hop Devil Grill. After all of the big sweet delicious beers I had yesterday, I was craving a nice simple light bodied hop bomb and this beer didn’t disappoint. Very pale golden colour with a thick creamy white head. Fantastic fresh hop aroma, all sweet grapefruit and intense pine resin. Light crisp pale malt is barely there. A touch minerally and flinty. Bone dry which only accentuates the fresh hops that are abundant throughout this brew. Lightly resiny on the back amid the aforementioned pine and grapefruit. I couldn’t have designed a beer more perfect for this very moment. A great day at HDG, I hope there’ll be more like it.
