Commercial Description:
HOP MEADOW INDIA PALE ALE. The American cousin of our ESB. This pale ale was originally brewed in 19th century England to survive the long ocean voyages to their troops stationed in India - hence the name India Pale Ale. To keep the beer from spoiling during these four- to six-month odysseys, they produced a stronger, more generously hopped ale. Our creamy IPA emphasizes traditional West Coast Chinook and Cascade hops to yield a hophead's delight of a brew: just-right complexity that's not too sweet - or over-the-top with hops.

12 oz bottle courtesy of an extra from Cletus. Big thanks, John! Pours a dark orange tinged copper, hazy, full, with decent beige orange head, laces well, stays at a smaller layer. Aromas are a nice caramel and toffee base, laying down faint toast, floral and citrusy hops come out moderately. Taste stats out with a good malty base, toast, caramel, toffee with faint raisin. Citrusy and floral hoppiness, decent bitterness but nothing overpowering. A bit floury, dough, biscuits. Hops fall behind a bit, florals and light citrusy orange and lighter grapefruit. Comes in a bit fuller further in. Good bitterness in the finish, nothing strong, citrusy, light toasty caramel. This beer grew on me.

12 oz. bottle. Pours an orange-brown, opaque color with a light off-white head. Has some of the characteristic nose of an IPA, some citrus notes, but not overwhelmingly so, like some other ones out there. Fair balance b/w the malts and hops, though it is slightly more hoppy as it should be at minimum. Medium bodied. A little too malty and syrupy, but not bad.

Pours hazy reddish/brown and has a big beige head that sticks around. Dulled pine aroma. Taste is also slightly dulled, probably old, but still good. More bitter than sweet with a thin body.
