Commercial Description:
HOP MEADOW INDIA PALE ALE. The American cousin of our ESB. This pale ale was originally brewed in 19th century England to survive the long ocean voyages to their troops stationed in India - hence the name India Pale Ale. To keep the beer from spoiling during these four- to six-month odysseys, they produced a stronger, more generously hopped ale. Our creamy IPA emphasizes traditional West Coast Chinook and Cascade hops to yield a hophead's delight of a brew: just-right complexity that's not too sweet - or over-the-top with hops.

Pours deep amber/dark orange with very thick light tan head. The head is comprised of oddly large bubbles and seems to last forever - also laces the glass heavily. The aroma has some grassy, herbal, spicey hops with some yeast. The beer starts off with some roasted flavors and some piney, citrusy hop flavor. The middle of the beer reveals more malts and some buttery toffee notes. Some sweetness shows up to balance the big hops and the beer finishes very bitter, but not too dry. The mouthfeel has some bite from the carbonation and is medium bodied. The first sip is the best - amazing hop flavor and well-balanced malts. After several sips, the malts aren’t as noticable and the beer seems hoppier. The only thing it is missing a bigger, hoppier nose.

orange red colored with a large cream colored head. moderately hopped aroma. moderately hopped flavor. the hops are flowery and not too biting. so far, i’ve found this brewery to be slightly restained in their hop additions( but i’m not complaining, this is quite nice for a change). i would call this more of a APA though. great malts! now where is that porter and doppel?

Bottle. Clear copper/orange with thick off white head, lines of lacing. Aroma of grapefruit/ pine/resin hops, biscuity malt and a bit of soapy/cheesy yeast. Nice citrus peel and piney hop flavor, with a medium palate. Trace of old yeast on the finish but overall a pretty good IPA.

Pours a deep copper with a rich beige head. Aroma of floral hops. Flavor has a good deal of flowery and peppery hoppiness, but it is very well balanced by a creamy maltiness. Finishes full and hoppy. A very well made IPA.

22oz - thanks ClarkVV - Aroma is carmel malt with some citrus hop zest. Pours dark red/brown with small head and good lacing. Flavor is at first very malty with carmel and toffee. Then the hops kick in to finish with some pine and citrus tartness that really brings it together. Palate is creamy and tart. Very nice East Coast IPA.

Citrusy pine hop aroma, with some grape in the back, very dark for an IPA, odd taste for an IPA, plenty of hop but a very full malt taste, almost chocolately, maybe thats why it is so dark, interesting

Light ruby body with a creamy white head. Nice smooth aroma, light pines and fruit. Light grapefruit taste, sweet and with some malts. Light fruity and malty ending.
