Commercial Description:
HOP MEADOW INDIA PALE ALE. The American cousin of our ESB. This pale ale was originally brewed in 19th century England to survive the long ocean voyages to their troops stationed in India - hence the name India Pale Ale. To keep the beer from spoiling during these four- to six-month odysseys, they produced a stronger, more generously hopped ale. Our creamy IPA emphasizes traditional West Coast Chinook and Cascade hops to yield a hophead's delight of a brew: just-right complexity that's not too sweet - or over-the-top with hops.

Pours a beige head with legs and an amber copper body. Smells of thick, sweet, old hops and some malt. Flavor is spice, citrus and floral hops. This is great.

I had the beer at the Thomas Hooker Brewery from directly from the holding tank. Aroma typical of IPA, floral and hoppy but with a hint citrus. Darker color than most IPAs, medium bodied. Complex with strong finish, slightly bitter. I enjoyed this beer.

[2040-20090314] 12floz bottle. Mild chocolate malt aroma has some grassy heather hops. Slightly hazy, dark amber brown body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. More grassy hoppy flavour. Medium bitter body. Nice bitterness overall, enjoyable.

From a 12 fl. oz. bottle with no marking or expiration date. It pours a deep mahagony-brown with consistant carbonation and a huge amount of foamy beige head. The aroma does not have the traditional aroma for an IPA but, wow, there is something very sweet or berry-like in the scent. Maybe it’s the pine. Medum mouthfeel. The hops are deemphasized by the primary flavor of sweet malts and something with a berry sensation. This is very unique and not typical of the IPA’s I have had. I enjoyed it t quite a lot.

Bottle thanks to Cletus. Pours a dark amber red with a thick tight light beige head. Herbal, floral, citrus hop aroma. Taste is unfortunately a watery palate, caramel base is there, but just too liquid then a light bitter finish of herbal and pine hops.

2009-03-14. Dark amber body with a tiny off white head. Mild aroma, light herbal hops. (6+) Flavour is quite sweet actually, light herbaceous hop bitterness. Average palate. Decent, but pretty meh. Perhaps caught me at the wrong time or an older bottle? Who knows. Bottle from Premier Gourmet, Buffalo

Bottle Pours a cloudy brown with a quickly leaving tan head. Has a good hoppy aroma of pine. Has a good mouthfeel. A crisp hoppy taste. Good carbination. A solid medium body. Has a creamy to oily texture. Has a nice finish. Not overly hoppy but still a strong hop presence. I like it. Good job TH.

12oz bottle. Decent beer, very drinkable. The name implied more of a hop presence that there actually was though.
