Commercial Description:
HOP MEADOW INDIA PALE ALE. The American cousin of our ESB. This pale ale was originally brewed in 19th century England to survive the long ocean voyages to their troops stationed in India - hence the name India Pale Ale. To keep the beer from spoiling during these four- to six-month odysseys, they produced a stronger, more generously hopped ale. Our creamy IPA emphasizes traditional West Coast Chinook and Cascade hops to yield a hophead's delight of a brew: just-right complexity that's not too sweet - or over-the-top with hops.

Hartford Airport, CT. Amber body. Hoppy nose. Taste of hops, especially pine. Citrus notes as well. Prickly mouthfeel. Dry finish. Nice one.

Bright dark amber. Thin head. Earthy hop aroma with some diacetyl. Toasty palate with lots of bitterness. Sweet cracked grain but this beer becomes quickly dominated by strong diacetyl notes. Way too much diacetyl. Get this off my tongue.

Bottle. Clear red color with off-white head. Leaves nice lace. Upfront butter in the aroma and also boiled vegetables, so smells like overboiled broccoli with butter on top. Soft creamy mouthfeel. Sweet malty middle that morphs into a toasty finish with a little hop kiss. Tastes better than it smells but not a great brew.

The aroma is sweet and hoppy with caramel malt, citrus, grass, and earthiness. The appearance is deep amber with a small head. The flavor is good. Its got all the elements of the aroma. The palate is think for an IPA which seems like a nice surprise. Overall it’s a good beer but just isnt great.

Nice IPA. Big hop nose with a small head. Hop flavors hit the back of the tongue with a nice balance. Finishes slowly, staying on your taste buds. Good beer, very pleased.

Served in a tumbler glass on tap at the Oldsmar Tap House. Pours copper with an off white head. The aroma holds copious amounts of butterscotch and mildly roasted malts. I only seem to be getting a faint vague hoppiness that might be on the citrus side. It smells malt heavy for an IPA. The taste is very much the same. In fact I enjoy the combination of malts, modestly roasted malts and solid toffee butterscotch. As far as the hops go I can sense them off in the background nearly hidden away behind a mound of barley. Seems very much like a malt forward IPA sort of in the style of an English IPA except Im not sure Im getting typical English floral, earthy, spicy hops.

Pours a nice amber color with a nice fluffy white head with a ton of lacing. The smell is of piny hops and maybe a bit of malt possibly caramel. Taste is a combination of citrus and pine hops (mostly pine) followed by some malt sweetness. The finish is almost buttery/biscuity. Nice blend of flavors. The mouthfeel is moderate. I have a hard time telling how the carbonation would normally be since I had this on cask and it is somewhat subdued, but it worked well for this brew. This is a very drinkable IPA, very smooth drinking and worth having a few at least. Serving type: cask Reviewed on: 07-11-2007
