Aroma is sweet, grassy, piney, and a bit citrussy. Flavor starts off a bit sweet, and a bit biscuity. Mid palate hits those hops, with orange peel, pine, grass, and other citrussy hops. Finishes in your face bitter, and a bit dry. I’m really happy with this IPA, although a bit depressed it’s not more readily available. thehinge (245), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 3, 2007 This is a very nice example of the style. All kinds of pine in the aroma. Pours a cloudy honey color with an off-white head that laces well and hangs on for the distance. Taste has hops all throughout, with hints citrus in the front end. The hops don’t overwhelm you with their bitterness either....but they’re in there. unclemattie (2422), Georgia, USA

OMG! beautifully perfect cascading head with a equally showful lace. Brown in color, a little differently than expected. Strong hop aroma. Stronger on the Palate!!! WOW. West Coast all the way. Heavy bodied for an IPA. Excellent. jah noth (1020), Rochester, New York, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 21, 2006 Some sticky honey-like sweetness and oranges in the aroma. Beautiful reddish amber in color with big and fluffy off-white head and oozing lacing. Chinook hops at the forefront with all their zappy bitterness - lots of limes, lemons and slight mint. Malts are very firm - very sweet and chewy. Creamy mouthfeel and lingering bitterness. One of the better IPAs I have had in awhile. penguinjive7 (67), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 21, 2008 Pours a nice amber color with a nice fluffy white head with a ton of lacing.
The smell is of piny hops and maybe a bit of malt possibly caramel.
Taste is a combination of citrus and pine hops (mostly pine) followed by some malt sweetness. The finish is almost buttery/biscuity. Nice blend of flavors.
The mouthfeel is moderate. I have a hard time telling how the carbonation would normally be since I had this on cask and it is somewhat subdued, but it worked well for this brew.
This is a very drinkable IPA, very smooth drinking and worth having a few at least.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 23, 2006 Pours a clear golden amber with a lasting off white head. Aroma is dominated by citrusy hops. Flavor is quite bitter and hoppy. Somewhat astringent it slaps your tongue with hoppiness. Finish is long and bitter with a clear taste of grapefruit. Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 5, 2006 A dark amber appearance with a large head. The aroma is damn nice with some perfume, pine, and quite malty. The flavor is also very malty for an IPA but seems to acheive a good balance. I taste grapefruit, lemons, and raisins. Overall a very nice one. boto (1337), Granby, Connecticut, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 13, 2005 22oz. bottle: Thanks to Paul Davis for the bottle! This one pours a fairly clear copper color. There was a fairly large tan head, that died down to leave some nice lacing. Nice aroma of hops. Mainly citrus and some grassiness. The taste is wonderful. Strong hops, but not overpowering. It still packs quite a bite. The hops are well balanced in their flavor. A good malt body behind it. Like Victory’s IPA’s, an excellent East Coast answer to some of the overdone West Coast IPA’s!
