Roasted chocolate malt aroma with some dark dried fruits and brown sugar. Flavor was much more intense than the aroma. Besides the dark roasted malts, flavor of molasses, raisins, vanilla and a bit of soy come through. wnhay (722), Princeton, New Jersey, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 27, 2006 750 mil 2005 swingtop via trade with jimbowood! - Thanks Jimbo! - Pours very dark brown with a nice tan head that stays very well and laces the sides of the english pint well. Aromas of coffee, milk chocolate, caramel, and some brown sugar. Flavor is like a turtle sundae, caramel, chocolate, coffee, just a touch of vanilla, and a few molassess notes. Palate is silky smooth and carbonated just enough to make this big beer seem lighter than it is. So easy to drink.. Just an all out beautiful brew... dhlesq (233), Thousand Oaks, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 18, 2006 Aroma of roast coffe, giving way to vinous notes with hints of chocolate and fig. Appears an opaque brown-black color with an enormous creamy light-bwon had that dissipates but leaves lacing. Flavor is creamy bittersweet chocolate giving way to roasted coffee, and finishing very bitter. Palate is smooth and creamy at the start, but light and sharp in the finish. Overall, this beer is just a bit less than equal to the sum of its parts. fbennett (293), Lowell, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Feb 13, 2006 This porter pours a dark brown, and leaves a thick tan head. It smells of brown sugar, dark chocolate, wafers, bread, and molasses. The taste is bitter citrus rinds, espresso, feel on the palate. The sweetness in the brew tastes like dark molasses, dark bitter sweet chocolate, dark roasted coffee, the taste is great. This brew finishes with some brown sugar sweetness, and some carbonation bite in this fantastic brew. Dorwart (1831), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 3, 2006 Good sized dense light brown head of fine bubbles. Very good carbonation. Malty aroma with a bit of caramel, molasses and a hint of smoke and tartness. Color is an opaque dark browh with a few little floaties in there. Floavr is smooth and rich with more roasted grains, toffee and coffee. Minimal hops presence. Light tartness. Could be from this bottle being older (2004 bottling). Medium bodied. Little chocoalte in there also. Finish is pretty clean, crisp and slightly dry. A pretty good porter. Not sure whether I would consider this to be a baltic porter though. Should be sweeter and thicker for the style.
