Jul 19, 2008 ’o6 bottle was expecting a little more here. It poured a modest looking brownish color with a thin bone color head that hardly lasted. A mild aroma of roasted coffee and caramel notes. Flavor was somewhat bitter, like bakers chocolate. Some weird fruit notes to it. Finish was somewhat dry.

Jul 16, 2008 ’06 Vintage - Pours a murky dark brown, with a small but modest tan head. Roasty, mild coffee nose. Has a bit of harsh astrigency, but nice moderate carbonation levels, the aftertaste is what turns me off, but I just cannot put my finger on what it is. Loads of milk chocolate, cocoa and a bit of nuttiness. Their is some fruit here but its quite dry and almost vinous. Just not one for my palate.

Jul 12, 2008 Bottle shared by sloth, the 03 vintage. Good head present with a semi-intentional vigorous pour. Full dark brown-black body. Aroma was hershey syrup chocolate with some maple notes. The flavor followed the aroma, molasses and caramel notes also mixing in there, light notes of oxidation over top, but nothing distracting or prohibitive of enjoyment. Body was malty, a touch sticky, but not syrup-like or overly cloying, although this was a tad too malty imbalanced and uninspiring to be great. Maybe it didn’t improve with age? Jun 13, 2008 2006 bottling. Bottles from jjpm and SpringsLicker. Thanks guys. Pours dark brown with absolutely no head. Aroma of dark malts, chocolate, coffee, sweet dark ripe fruits, tobacco maybe. The flavor is rather complex as it is a mix of sweet malts with ripe fruits, coffee, chocolate, roast. A dry finish after the sweet malts roll through. A little earthy from the hops. Finishes clean like a lager. Was almost not carbonated with only a light effervescence throughout.

Jun 10, 2008 Bottle. Pours black with a nice tan head and spotty lacing. Sweet aroma of chocolate, caramel, molasses and coffee. Flavor is very roasty with coffee, chocolate, molasses caramel sweetness, and a hint of toffee. Very nice

May 24, 2008 I got a bottle in a trade that I believe leaked. When I poured it it was sour smelling and tasting and was just horrible. Will re-rate when I get a new bottle.

May 24, 2008 2006 bottle. Pours a near opaque brown-black with thick and lingering beige head. Nose is full of dark caramels, rich fruits, and cocoa. Nice full body for a lager, soft and velvety; burnt toast, bittersweet chocolate, and a pretty strong grassy hop kick in the finish. Not bad, if somewhat cloyingly sweet.

May 23, 2008 Imperial Porter? Seems to be a strong stout, but I guess that fits. Full-bodied and rich flavors with a good mix of malts and hops.
