Pours a hazy, deep brown with a reddish hue and a beige head. Lightly tart nose with burned malt accents. Medium body with burned malt and both sweetness and acidity. Malt astringent finish. The slight infection doesn’t spoil the fun completely. 290607 yespr (12407), Copenhagen O, Denmark

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 23, 2004 Bottled. Black. Thick, malty and salty. Licorice and molasses are evident, as is coffee and grass. The mouthfeel is clean and as it’s very hoppy for the style it also has a very bitter finish. Lacks the soft mouthfeel of a world class beer. joergen (8634), Frederiksberg, Denmark

dark brown with ruby highlights, nice lace, big frothy tan head, burnt roasted aroma, creamy body, rich malt flavor, nice chocolate character, astrengent bitter malt finish, the rich chocolate flavor is overshadowed by the burnt bitterness which eventually fades but not completely and not until it’s too late

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | May 26, 2005 Pretty much black. Smooth body. Sweet, luscious milk chocolate and coffee character with marshmallows and a little bit of roastiness. Tasty, well-constructed. Not recognizeable as a Baltic, it is however an "imperial" porter. And a very good one at that. Thanks to Springslicker for the hookup! argo0 (6985), Washington DC, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 10, 2006 (1L bottle, 2004 Vintage) Like the Doppelbock, this one was a gusher -- at least that one offered a warning against opening this one outside of the sink. Unlike the Doppelbock, however, infection is evident. Black body topped by a large tan head. Aroma is Flemish sour -- sour cherry, yeast. Taste is medium sweet, chocolate, sour cherry, some roast, earthy, light wood. Medium body, alcohol well hidden. Very enjoyable, but not what the brewer intends.
