eraserhd10 (226), new haven, Connecticut, USA Jan 27, 2005 A smooth, black velvet of a beer. A coffee-ish aroma. Textured maltiness with hints of antique leather and cigar store smokiness. Definitely a winter beer. Caramel and some chocolate lingers on. A completely pleasurable sipping experience!
durhambeer (619), Durham, USA Nov 29, 2008 Bottle thanks to jjpm74. Deep brown pour with bright yellowish off-white head. Nutty walnuts and roasty coffee/burnt malt on the nose and palate. A very roasty porter, but I could never shake that weird cardboard/walnut taste. Lighter palate. Decent but not great. RCL (1113), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA Oct 29, 2008 This is not particularly good beer. Tight nose has notes of walnut shell and rootbeer. Flavor is faintly sweet with a dry finish. Not much to the flavor or palate, but a nice roasted aftertaste, at least. Sparky27 (711), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Oct 22, 2008 Bottle courtesy of JB175. Pours a deep dark brown with one finger tan head and spotty lacing. Nose is dark sour fruits and roasted coffee. Taste is more sour dark fruit, toasted malt, ashy cocoa and black coffee with a light hop finish. Medium mouth feel. Not bad. Thanks Jason! lb4lb (1545), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 14, 2008 Bottle shared at recent tasting. Can’t remember who brought it, but thanks!<br />
Pours a dark brown to black color with a light tan head. Smell is lightly smoky and hoppy and pretty nice. Taste is somewhat hoppy for a porter, or is it the charred roastiness...Some light coffee as well to balanced the nice roasty malts. Medium bodied and carbonation is normal. Dark roasty bitter chocolate coffee, in a nutshell. Nice. daknole (1122), Plantation, Florida, USA Oct 13, 2008 Bottle from dogfishlove120. Pours a nice dark brown color with a small tan head. Aroma is full of coffee and some chocolate and is also nice and roasty. Flavor starts off with some nice coffee and chocolate notes and then turns a bit bitter at the end. I liked it, but I wish for less bitterness in an imp porter.
