Commercial Description:
This traditional red ale gets its unique color from an interesting blend of pale, caramel and roasted malts which promote a sweetness that’s then balanced with crisp, authentic English-style hops. A very unique and drinkable red that’s also favored by amber-lovers. And not only on St.Paddy’s day, but the other 364 days of the year as well.

Nov. 2006 - Eh, I just don’t dig these Irish Ales, but for the style, this one isn’t all that bad. Dark caramel color, nice head and really nice lacing. Aroma was hoppy with that distinctive irish red aroma that reminds me of cardboard. Flavor was full flavored and hoppy...some touches of caramel and maybe even a little chocolate to go along with a hop crispness that really bites you.

Deep copper brown color with no head. Sweet malty aroma. Uncomplicated flavor, malty and sweet at the start with touches of caramel and brown sugar. Finish is sweet and short. Small to medium bodied.

Bottle: Poured a dark dark red with a thick head. Aroma was that of malts and strong hops. The flavor was roasted caramel and nuts with a subtle hoppy finish. Overall, a decent beer.

Keg. Pours a deep red with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is grainy malts, light hops. Flavors are sweet malts, biscuity, some light caramel and roasty flavors as well. Light chocolate and caramel. Finishes with a grainy sweetness/nuttiness that was surprisingly refreshing.

Deep red-brown color. Nice creamy head that lingers, left lacing on glass. Aroma of malts, caramel, but rather subtle. Very malty flavor with caramel and chocolate but also subtle hops. A very malty Irish ale. Medium-bodied with decent carbonation. Overall I really enjoyed this beer.

On tap. Deep dark red brown with a smooth light tan head. Served WAY too cold, so I had to be patient and let it warm up. Subtle nose. Sweet malts developes. Caramel and chocolate to some extent. Not watery. A bit on the smoother fuller side for sessions. A big ass sweetness here. Goes really well with food though. Caramel malt sweetness dominates. Some darker malt aspects. Toffee. Chocolate to some extent. A little bit of floral hops. Well done really. Lingering woody toast. Though I don’t like toasty beers, it works here.

Pours a dark chestnut/amber colour with a minimal beige head that fades quickly. The aroma is toasted, grainy malts, fragrant, earthy hops, burnt toffee and is a bit soapy smelling. The flavour is unexpected judging from the nose, with a honey-like malty backbone, nuts, caramel and some earthy bitter hops on the finish. The hops come across as a bit metallic. The mouthfeel is creamy, with perfectly matched carbonation, but the finish is watery and weak on the finish.

This beer pours a dark reddish amber color with a thin head to it. the aroma is very floral and has hints of roasted malt. The initial flavor is very bitter and tangy and has some hints of clove. The palate is full bodied and leaves that malty and hoppy finish coating your mouth after te tangy and bitterness fades. As the beer warms up it gets a little more hoppier in the initial flavor.
