docsteigs (127), USA Jun 6, 2008 Pours reddish-brown, darker color than a typical Irish Red. Light tan head hangs around. Smells sweet, malty. Tastes full with some nutty accents, sweet malt. Finishes clean and easy to drink.
obxdude10 (1403), Reading, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 17, 2008 This pours a little bit of a cloudy dark copper color with a big, almost tan head. The head leaves a ton of nice looking lacing around the glass. The aroma is mostly of malt, with notes of caramel and veggies. The body is fairly heavy, as this beer really sits in the stomach and fills you up quickly. The flavors are pretty well balanced, with a sweet maltiness and bready flavors combined with a decent touch of grass and hops. The finish is smooth with a touch of cream and caramel. This really isn’t a beer that I would order if faced with a choice, but it’s fairly enjoyable nonetheless. MrManning (1458), London, Ontario, Canada Sep 25, 2008 Bottle from JJPM74, thanks John! A nice deep burnt red with a creamy off white foamy cap. Nose is very malt forward, lots of nutty and tofee notes...a bit of vanilla and molasses. Some dark fruit. Sweet, earthy, nutty malts with good caramel backbone. A bit of sharp hops tries to balance the swetness, but it doesn’t work. A bit too sweet but the flavours are good for the most part. Creamy, and overall pretty good. Pwn3d (630), NYC, New York, USA Sep 24, 2008 12oz bottle, very nicely hopped. Pours brown with not too much caramel overtones which some irish reds over due. Only of my favorite representations of the style to date. DrDavid (473), Johnson, Vermont, USA Sep 14, 2008 (Bottle). Aroma sweet and malty, some toffee. Reddish amber color with light tan head. Tastes mild, mostly malty and semi-sweet toffee, with low carbonation. Finish is a little cloying. Overall, pleasant enough. elihapa (407), Hawaii, USA Aug 31, 2008 Bottle. Aroma of vanilla, malt, and some light fruit. Palate is creamy, and lightly carbonated. Color is strawberry red. I must say, I did not care for this. I was expecting something rather unique, what I got was an over-sweet brew with little complexity. Any discernable flavors were washed out by a pervading sugar-artificial strawberry fruit flavor. Not recommended.
